      <image:title>Work - The F Building in Chartreuse</image:title>
<image:caption>Coleman porcelain with inclusions of dirt and debris swept up from behind the kiln yard of the F building, Verde Valley Campus of Yavapai College, Clarkdale, Arizona; wheel-thrown and altered; 5” x 7”; glazed with Salmon Sugar and Chartreuse; fired to cone 12 oxidation. The Parking Lot Behind the F Building This series is made from Coleman Porcelain mixed with some dirt and rocks that I swept up in the parking lot between the kiln yard and Security, and sieved into various mesh sizes. For simplicity, these sizes are fine, medium and coarse. These are glazed with some of my favorite Mississippi and Bristol D8 glazes, and then fired in an oxidation kiln to the REALLY HOT temperature of about D13. I asked for D8, but sometimes a kiln has its own agenda. This extreme temperature caused the ovoid distortions in the porcelain, as it reached fairly close to its melting point. The glazes have completely saturated the body of the clay and reacted strongly with the minerals in the dirt inclusions.</image:caption>
